Saanich police are warning the public after a string of sexual assaults and indecent acts in the Gordon Head area.

Police said there have been five incidents since July 4, including two on one day.

All of the incidents took place in the late afternoon and early evening in a tight area around Lambrick Park, Mount Douglas Park lower beach parking lot, and Larchwood Drive and Blair Avenue, said Staff Sgt. Chris Horsley.

In each instance, a woman was targeted by a younger man on a bicycle or skateboard.

Two women were touched in a sexual manner; in one instance, the man put his hands up the back of a woman’s shorts, Horsley said. In the other cases, the man exposed himself and fled.

Horsley called the indecent acts, with someone exposing themselves, concerning.

“It’s significantly more significant when they show a willingness to touch.”

Given the similarities between the five incidents, investigators believe they are likely connected. The man is described as 20 to 30 years old, short and white with a darker complexion. He was variously reported as wearing a baseball hat, bandana and green bicycle helmet.

Anyone with information is asked to call Saanich police at 250-475-4321.
