Nanaimo RCMP are looking for the person believed to have spray-painted a large swastika on the front window of a central Nanaimo business.

The image was painted sometime overnight Oct. 14.

When staff members arrived in the morning and saw the image, they reported it to police. They took a picture of it for officers before removing it.

They later informed police that they had been able to get an image of a suspect from security cameras. The person is possibly a female and has bright orange hair, and was wearing a blue puffy jacket and white pants.

A yellow backpack was nearby.

Another swastika was found on concrete in the vicinity of the Cameron Island condominiums downtown.

“Because of what these images represent we will not be showing the images to the public,” said Const. Gary O’Brien.

Call Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345 with any information.
