Another $1,000 has been added to the reward in the case of the Oak Bay raccoons with missing paws, bringing the total to $4,500.

Another $1,000 has been added to the reward in the case of the Oak Bay raccoons with missing paws, bringing the total to $4,500.

The reward started at $1,500, but recent media coverage prompted more donations, said the Association for the Protection of Fur-Bearing Animals.

The first reports of a raccoon missing a paw were from the Haultain Street-Kings Road-Epworth Street area in May. The association believes the missing paws could be the result of a leg-hold trap.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Oak Bay police at 250-592-2424. Details on the reward are available from the Association for the Protection of Fur-Bearing Animals at 604-435-1850.
