Police watchdog probes incident where arrested woman injured

The incident began when Victoria police responded to a report about 7:05 p.m. on Sept. 9 regarding a woman yelling at the corner of Park Boulevard and Heywood Avenue.

B.C’s civilian-oversight agency for police is investigating an incident where a woman taken into custody by Victoria police was seriously injured.

The Independent Investigations Office, which looks into police-related incidents resulting in serious harm or death, said Victoria police responded to a report about 7:05 p.m. on Sept. 9 regarding a woman yelling at the corner of Park Boulevard and Heywood Avenue.

They discovered she had a weapon and after negotiations were able to take her into custody about 10:15 p.m.

She was then transported to hospital.
