Police believe body found in Nanaimo ravine is that of missing woman

RCMP are investigating after officers discovered a body in a small, wooded ravine in downtown Nanaimo on Thursday. Police said they believe the deceased is 27-year-old Amy Watts, who was reported missing on May 27. Her family has been notified.

RCMP are investigating after officers discovered a body in a small, wooded ravine in downtown Nanaimo on Thursday.

Police said they believe the deceased is 27-year-old Amy Watts, who was reported missing on May 27. Her family has been notified.

The body was found near Albert Street and Victoria Crescent, police said.

The B.C. Coroners Service has been advised and an autopsy will be scheduled.

Nanaimo RCMP are looking for 27-year-old Amy Watts, who has not had any contact with her family since February.

She was reported missing May 27 by her mother, who lives in Prince Edward Island.

It is unlike Watts to be out of contact for so long and family members are concerned for her safety.

Watts is white, five-foot-four and 120 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. She sometimes refers to herself as Amy Coady.

Police believe she might be Nanaimo and are following up on reports of possible sightings of her in the downtown area.
