People who turned in wallet linked to 30-year-old police file have been found

Police said last week that the wallet had recently been linked to a file from the late 1980s

Saanich police said two good Samaritans who turned in a wallet last fall have spoken with detectives — but the mystery continues.

Police said last week that the wallet had recently been linked to a file from the late 1980s, and detectives with the Major Crime Unit wanted to speak with the people who found it.

Const. Markus Anastasiades said in a statement Tuesday that the two people have spoken with police, but there was “no further information to share at this time.”

On Oct. 12, two people in their 60s showed up the police department’s front desk and handed over a worn, brown leather wallet they had found while walking in the Blenkinsop Lake Park area.
