Peanuts Christmas figures stolen from Oak Bay park

Good grief!

Three Peanuts Christmas figures, including Charlie Brown himself, have been taken from a display at Oak Bay’s Entrance Park.

The theft from the green space at Oak Bay Avenue and Foul Bay Road occurred between Sunday evening and Monday morning, police say. The figures are all handmade and were donated by a local family.

Snoopy and Charlie’s sister, Sally, are also gone.

“It does bring the Grinch to mind,” said Oak Bay Mayor Kevin Murdoch, adding the figures have been around for over a decade.

Oak Bay Deputy Police Chief Mark Fisher said he can’t understand “why someone would stoop so low as to steal Christmas displays from a public park.”

The fact that the figures were made locally makes them special, said Coun. Cairine Green. “It’s sad when people take the joy from the community in that way, and children in particular.”
