A 69-year-old Port Hardy man died after his car was struck by a pickup truck while crossing the Island Highway at Coal Harbour Road, on the north end of Vancouver Island.
The accident took place shortly before 1 p.m. on Monday, said RCMP Corp. Ryan Rooke.
No one else was injured. The truck was heading north on the highway when it struck the car, which had pulled away from Coal Harbour Road, which has a stop sign.
Alcohol and drug use are not believed to have been factors in the accident, Rooke said.
