A family from western Norway hit the lottery jackpot for the third time in six years when the son won more than 12 million kroner (about $2 million Cdn) this month.

He added to the successes of his father and his sister, who had also picked seven correct numbers to bring in winnings of more than 8 million kroner each in 2006 and 2010.

The Norsk Tipping AS lottery company said Tuesday the teenager's recent success was Norway's first reported occurrence of three members of the same family separately winning the lottery.
