No injuries in blaze at Nanaimo house, fire department says

No one was injured in a fire in the area of Doric Avenue and 2nd Street in Nanaimo Tuesday night, according to firefighters.

No one was injured in a fire in the area of Doric Avenue and 2nd Street in Nanaimo Tuesday night, according to firefighters.

Nanaimo Fire Rescue shared images of the damaged house on social media Tuesday night, writing that firefighters were able to quickly control the blaze.

Nanaimo RCMP responded to the fire around 8:30 p.m., and found several people had already evacuated the building. Other occupants were quickly located.

A number of people, including children, were in the home at the time of the fire, according to RCMP. Some were treated locally by paramedics, but most were transported to hospital to be checked.

RCMP said the fire appeared to have started in the carport but the origin and cause of the blaze remains unknown. The fire has not been deemed suspicious.
