Nanaimo townhouse complex fire deemed suspicious

No one was badly hurt early Saturday morning after what is being considered a suspicious fire broke out at a Nanaimo townhouse complex. Nanaimo RCMP said all 18 tenants in the six units at the Sabiston Street townhouse were able to get out.

Nanaimo RCMP said all 18 tenants in the six units at the Sabiston Street townhouse were able to get out. The fire was reported about 1 a.m. and appears to have started on the front porch.

One elderly man received cuts and scrapes, while a woman was treated for burns to her upper body. They and the other tenants are temporarily staying in a hotel.
