Nanaimo RCMP say roving patrols will be handing out coupons for McDonald’s coffee to sober motorists on Saturday, National Impaired Driving Enforcement Day.

“We want everyone to have a great evening, but more importantly, we want everyone to arrive home safely,” said Const. Gary O’Brien. “Don’t allow yourself to become a statistic. Make good choices.”

Rather than driving impaired, take a taxi or catch a ride from a designated driver, police said.

Impaired driving continues to be one of the leading causes of death on roadways and claims an average of 65 lives in B.C. each year, Nanaimo RCMP said.
