Nanaimo RCMP are searching for a man who threw a cup of cold coffee at an employee at a McDonald’s on Bowen Road.

The employee managed to get out of the way in time.

Police were told the suspect appeared to be sleeping at a table about 9:30 a.m. Jan. 12 and an employee went over to knock on the table in an attempt to rouse him.

The suspect responded by swearing loudly, and was told by a supervisor to leave the premises. He then threw the coffee at the supervisor from a distance of about six metres and left.

He is described as five-foot-nine and clean-shaven with a medium build and short dark hair, and was wearing a light brown jacket and a dark baseball cap and carrying a black backpack.

Call Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345 with any information.

Last October, a man tossed coffee on a mother and her baby while they were walking in the 900-block of Yates Street in Victoria.

The coffee was not hot enough to cause injuries.
