The holiday season kicks off at the Royal B.C. Museum on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. with the return of Carol-Along with the Carilllon.

While carillonneur Jon Lehrer plays seasonal favourites, the public is invited to join the Newcombe Singers for a 45-minute set under the Centennial Carillon. Free hot chocolate and cookies will be provided.

On Dec. 4, Father Christmas will make his first visit to the museum’s Old Town to hear children’s holiday wishes and pose for photographs.

Official photos will be emailed, with museum-goers invited to share them on Twitter using #RBCMSanta and @RoyalBCMuseum.

Santa’s arrival coincides with the opening of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2015 exhibition.

Starting Dec. 6 at 1 p.m., the Maritime Museum of B.C. will resume its annual Nautical Wreath Workshops in its new location at 634 Humboldt St., Nootka Court.

The three-hour workshop on how to use knots to transform a piece of rope into a holiday wreath will be repeated Dec. 8 and Dec. 12 from 1 to 4 p.m.

The cost is $35 plus GST ($10 plus GST for an additional wreath), including rope, instruction and a light festive snack. Participants are asked to bring light work gloves or gardening gloves. To pre-register, call Diana at 250-385-4222, ext. 101, or email info@mmbc.bc.ca.
