Saanich police said the driver stayed at the scene and co-operated with officers.

A mother pushing two children in a stroller suffered serious injuries Monday night when she was hit by a vehicle that was turning left at Quadra Street and Lily Avenue.

The vehicle did not make contact with the stroller and the children were unhurt in the crash, which occurred around 7 p.m.

Police said the driver stayed at the scene and co-operated with officers. Driver impairment has been ruled out as a factor.

The area was closed to traffic for several hours while collision analysts investigated.

“It’s very sad that this happened and we’re fortunate that the children didn’t get hurt,” said Const. Markus Anastasiades.
