Identity of suspect sought from Coquitlam gas station robbery

Mounties explain the incident from early August involved a man displaying a firearm to the cashier before taking money.

Coquitlam RCMP is searching for a man who robbed a local gas station in early August.

Spokesperson Cpl. Paige Kuz explains the detachment is hoping residents and witnesses can come forward with information about the suspect, who also carried a firearm during the incident.

Before 10 p.m. on Aug. 7, Mounties were called to the Esso across from the Coquitlam Centre mall — located at 1130 Johnson St. — for reports of a robbery.

According to police, a man walked into the convenience store, showed a firearm concealed in his waist to the cashier, took cash from them and ran away.

Surveillance video from inside the store captured the suspect moments before the incident and are being released to the public.

He's described as:

  • White
  • Early to mid 20s
  • About 6' tall
  • Thin build
  • Blonde to light brown hair
  • Last seen wearing...
    • Black sunglasses with a silver trim
    • Non medical mask with a pattern
    • Red hoodie worn inside out
    • Black Adidas track pants with a white stripe on the side
    • Black runners with a white sole
