Nanaimo RCMP are investigating a homicide discovered during a welfare check on a man last week.

Officers went to a residence about 3 p.m. on Aug. 12 after receiving information from the Kelowna RCMP. The body of 30-year-old Ryan Mosher was found inside. Mosher had recently moved to Nanaimo from Kelowna.

Police said his death is considered suspicious and the Nanaimo RCMP Serious Crimes Unit has been called in. Kelowna RCMP is assisting with the investigation.

“We strongly believe Mr. Mosher’s death is an isolated incident and the general public is not considered to be a risk,” said Nanaimo RCMP Const. Derek Balderston.

“Investigators have spoken to numerous people from both Kelowna and Nanaimo to assist in establishing what may have occurred.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Serious Crimes Unit at 250-754-2345.
