Ryder Hesjedal's eventful summer, which included winning the Giro d'Italia and racing in the 2012 London Olympics, was celebrated Friday with a public homecoming at Centennial Square. The function began with Hesjedal and wife Ashley riding up Government Street in a pedi-cab in a parade of cyclists. Hesjedal became the first Canadian to win a Grand Tour event when he captured the Giro. He then rode in the Tour de France, but a crash forced him out of that race. He was the lone Canadian men's road racer in London. Story, page A3
