With Victoria’s temperature a crisp 3 C on Tuesday, classes were cancelled at Victoria High School due to a heating issue.
A problem with a main boiler at the school — temporarily located at the former S.J. Willis Education Centre while the regular site undergoes expansion and a seismic upgrade — made it impossible to keep the building warm enough.
Repairs will be made in time for classes to resume Wednesday at 12:30 p.m., principal Aaron Parker said in an email to the school community.
Students who can’t make alternate arrangements will be provided with study space at the school.
The cancellation was extended to Vic High’s Fairey Tech facility at the regular school site in Fernwood, home to such courses as mechanics and carpentry, because students would have been there for only a class or two before returning to S.J. Willis.
