Tuesday, Oct. 31

Halloween Spooktacular. Join Esquimalt Rec and the Esquimalt Firefighters for a night of Halloween fun! Tuesday, Oct. 31, 6-9 pm. at Bullen Field and Esquimalt Fire Hall, 1151 Esquimalt Rd. More at esquimalt.ca.

Trick-or-Treat at the Parliament Buildings. Children and families are invited to enjoy some spooky treats and participate in festive activities! The event begins inside the main entrance at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct 31, 3-4 p.m. No advance registration required. 

Trick-or-Treat on the Avenue. Visit Oak Bay Village merchants for trick-or-treating and Halloween celebrations including live music, jugglers, stilt walkers, a pet costume contest and more. Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2-5 p.m. Details at visitoakbayvillage.ca 

Trick-or-Treat on Cook Street. Stop by 8 a.m.-4 p.m. for trick-or-treating. We want to see kids — and adults! — of all ages dressed up and looking for fun. Tuesday, Oct. 31, at Cook Street Village Activity Centre, 380 Cook St. More at the Cook Street Village Activity Centre's Facebook page.

Halloween Haunted House hosted by the View Royal Fire Fighters Association. Enjoy a family-friendly haunted house with complimentary hot dogs and drinks. Tuesday, Oct. 31, 6-9 p.m. at the View Royal Fire Department, 333 Island Hwy. viewroyal.ca

Central Saanich bonfire and fireworks. Join in the fun on Halloween at the community bonfire and Forrest Owens memorial fireworks display at Centennial Park. Bonfire at 7:30 p.m., fireworks around 8 p.m. centralsaanich.ca

Colwood Halloween bonfire. Bring all the little ghosts and goblins to enjoy hot dogs, juice boxes, treats and fun in the firelight on Halloween night, 6 to 8:30 p.m. Colwood Fire Hall, 3215 Metchosin Rd. colwood.ca

Langford Treat Street, hosted by Langford Fire Rescue, will take over Langford Station (720 Station Ave.),  from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31. Free hot dogs, hot chocolate and treats, plus live music, plenty of photo opportunities, games and more. langford.ca

Metchosin celebrates Halloween with the largest bonfire on the West Shore. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with hot dogs, coffee and juice for all (free of charge) at the fire hall, 4440 Happy Valley Rd., costume contest at 7:30 p.m. New this year: a haunted hall for all to enjoy. Treat Street Halloween Spooktacular. Downtown Sidney will be closed to traffic for a family trick-or-treating event on Halloween! Visit various businesses and treat stations. Tuesday, Oct. 31, 4:30-6 p.m. More at peninsulacelebrations.org

Saturday, Nov. 4

The third annual Great Pumpkin Toss returns to Nanaimo on Saturday, Nov. 4, to the area behind the East Wellington Fire Hall at Meadow Creek Community Park. Try pumpkin bowling, enjoy some tasty treats at the concession, and for a donation, work off that post-Halloween sugar high in the bouncy castle. Proceeds to the Nanaimo Child Development Centre

View Royal Pumpkin Smash. Join firefighters Nov. 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to get rid of your pumpkins by dropping them off the four-storey hose tower onto a car. By donation to the department’s Movember campaign, which raises awareness of men’s health issues. 333 Island Hwy.

Langford Pumpkin Smash. Langford Fire Rescue will host its annual pumpkin smash event at Westshore Town Centre, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4. By donation with proceeds going to the B.C. Burn Fund.
