One man suffered minor burns when a cabin in Beaver Creek was destroyed by fire about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.

“It was burnt so badly there was no indication of how that would have started,” said Mike Kobus, chief of the Beaver Creek Volunteer Fire Department. “He was lucky to get out.”

The cabin was on the back of a Beaver Creek Road property and was not the main residence, he said.

A mother lives in the main house and her son was in the cabin, Kobus said.

Fire crews from the Port Alberni, Cherry Creek and Sproat Lake departments also responded as part of an aid agreement.
