Overdue camper has been found and is safe: Nanaimo RCMP

Family were worried about the man’s well-being, telling police that his trips typically last four or five days.

A 79-year-old man who was reported missing after he failed to return from a camping trip as scheduled has been found, police say.

Nanaimo RCMP say Roy Olson, who hadn't been seen since July 25, has been located and is safe and sound.

Olson told his family he was going to Campbell River, Gold River and Port Hardy. His family told Nanaimo RCMP that he normally goes for four or five days, but has never been gone for so long.

Police put out an alert on Wednesday. On Friday, they said he had been found and thanked the public on behalf of his family for their help.
