Driver sent to hospital after car crashes into light pole in Nanaimo

Nanaimo RCMP said the investigation is ongoing and it wasn’t immediately clear what caused the crash.

One person was taken to hospital with undisclosed injuries after a car crashed into a light standard in north Nanaimo early Sunday.

Sgt. Chris Manseau, media relations officer for the B.C. RCMP, said the driver of a Buick sedan hit the pole on Hammond Bay Road at about 6 a.m.

The vehicle’s other occupant did not require medical attention, RCMP said.

Nanaimo firefighters and B.C. Emergency Health Services paramedics were on the scene.

Manseau said the investigation is ongoing and it wasn’t immediately clear what caused the crash.

RCMP are asking any witnesses who may have seen a Buick sedan driving in the area to contact to them at 778-290-3791.
