Driver killed in single-vehicle crash on Cordova Bay Road

An examination of the scene by police determined the vehicle was travelling eastbound on Cordova Bay Road when it veered off the left side of the road and struck a tree.

A 30-year-old driver died in a single-vehicle crash on Cordova Bay Road Sunday night after his vehicle veered off road and hit a large tree.

Officers responded to the crash on Cordova Bay Road just west of Ash Road about 6:35 p.m. Saanich firefighters extricated the man from a grey four-door Mitsubishi Lancer.

The man was rushed to hospital but did not survive his injuries, said Const. Markus Anastasiades.

An examination of the scene by police determined the vehicle was travelling eastbound on Cordova Bay Road when it veered off the left side of the road and struck a tree.

The road was closed for several hours and reopened just after midnight.

Saanich police ask anyone who saw the vehicle prior to the collision to contact them at 250-475-4321.
