A driver was issued a 90-day driving prohibition and a 30-day vehicle impoundment after a two-vehicle collision early Sunday at McKenzie Avenue and Cedar Hill Cross Road that sent one of the occupants in the other vehicle to hospital.

Saanich police came upon the scene about 2 a.m. Police believe the driver who was issued the prohibition made a left turn in front of the other vehicle. The driver later failed a breathalyzer test.

Earlier, a Saanich police roadblock on the Trans-Canada Highway between Tillicum Road and Uptown caught two allegedly impaired drivers. Both were given 90-day driving prohibitions.

“We’re still seeing impaired drivers on the road,” said Const. Markus Anastasiades. “Expect to see further impaired-driving checkstops for the rest of the year and not just on weekends.”
