Central Saanich police pulled over a driver going 71 kilometres an hour over the posted speed limit Monday morning.
The driver was clocked at 161 km/h in a 90 zone on the Patricia Bay Highway.
A ticket for excessive speeding — going more than 40 km/h over the limit — was issued and the vehicle was impounded.
The fine for exceeding the limit by more than 60 km/h is $483.
