Corvette nabbed doing twice the speed limit near Uptown

Saanich police are warning people not to take it too fast when they’re out for a drive on a nice day. The driver of a Corvette could have used that advice Thursday before being nabbed for going 100 kilometres per hour in a 50-km/h zone.

Saanich police are warning people not to take it too fast when they’re out for a drive on a nice day.

The driver of a Corvette could have used that advice Thursday before being nabbed for going 100 kilometres per hour in a 50-km/h zone.

The offence took place on the Trans-Canada Highway near Uptown, said Const. Markus Anastasiades.

“It’s excessive speed, seven-day impound, $368 ticket,” he said. “Nice vehicle but it’s going to be parked for seven days.”

Excessive-speed penalties kick in at 40 km/h over the posted speed limit.

“It’s sunny out and nice cars are starting to hit the road, motorcycles as well,” Anastasiades said. “Just watch your speed while you’re driving.”
