A wayward car damaged five other vehicles Sunday before ending up perched on a sixth in the parking lot next to the Beacon Hill Park petting zoo.

Victoria police received multiple 911 calls and responded about 3 p.m., said Const. Matt Rutherford. Given that it was a busy Sunday in the park, it was “very, very lucky” no one was injured, Rutherford said.

A person inside the wayward car, a Subaru, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Rutherford said “driver error” seems to have triggered the crash. “It appears the foot got stuck on the rubber floor mat inside the vehicle, was the initial cause.”

Things went from bad to worse.

“The driver of the Subaru collided with three vehicle and then the driver shifted into another gear, lurched forward and hit two more vehicles,” Rutherford said. “He then drove over a median and on top of another car.”
