A tractor trailer that caught fire in Saanich sent thick clouds of smoke billowing across the Pat Bay Highway during the morning commute Friday.
Saanich Fire said the 18-wheeler was fully engulfed when crews arrived at the scene about 9 a.m. in the 4200-block of Dieppe Avenue.
Eight firefighters in two engine trucks were able to get the blaze under control.
The damage is estimated at $150,000. Fire inspectors are trying to determine what caused the blaze.
