A bear has been sighted multiple times in the area of Jasmine Avenue in Saanich.

Const. Sean Kay said in a statement that Saanich police are requesting the public to not approach or antagonize the animal.

“Please ‘bear’ in mind that loose garbage, compost and uncollected produce from fruit trees can attract wildlife from their natural habituated to more urban settings,” he said.

Kay said B.C. Conservation Service has been made aware of the bear sightings.

Should you encounter a bear in the area, contact Saanich police at 250-475-4321
