Lifetime Networks is looking for a volunteer who is interested in building a friendship with a youthful man in his 40s with a disability. Some of the activities he would enjoy sharing with a new friend include: playing tennis and video games, music, movies, the outdoors, gardening, hiking, swimming and DJ-ing. ArtSea Community Arts Council: Salish Sea Lantern Festival is held Aug. 24 on the waterfront in Sidney. Volunteers are needed to help with set up/take down, site co-ordinator and parade procession assistants, equipment stage crew, face painters and bubble station operators. Rainbow Express Daycare: Is seeking a board member for a non-profit daycare. Meetings held every two months for two hours. Some work required in between. The Maritime Museum: Classic Boat Festival (Aug. 30-Sept. 1): Festival donation volunteer needed to welcome visitors, accept donations and answer visitor questions. Dock volunteers for dock safety, fulfilling ice requests, carrying a VHF radio, ensuring safety of all visitors. Familiarity with VHF radio and/or marine experience preferred. Facilitate the 55+ drop-in cards and games program Wednesdays, 9:30-11:30 a.m. Duties include: setup, facilitate various card and board games. organize tea and coffee, assist with promoting the program by distributing posters and handouts throughout the neighbourhood. Better at Home Westshore: Friendly visitor. Better at Home is looking for older adults to spend time with an older adult. Volunteers must have patience and enjoy spending time with an older adult. Society of St. Vincent de Paul: Social Concern Office volunteers. Volunteers work together with support staff to attend to the day-to-day operations.
