The Victoria Stroke Recovery Association: Provides weekly programming and activities that are designed for stroke survivors and their caregivers. We are looking for a treasurer and secretary to assist us in monthly reports. Additionally we would welcome any interested volunteers for our program. Contact Karol Sanderson at 250-383-4865.

Junior Achievement of B.C.: JABC runs programs in classrooms focused on financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship for students in Grades 4 to 12. Saanich Commonwealth Place (Saanich Recreation): Piano accompanist — family choir. A new initiative at SCP requires a motivated piano accompanist to provide live, real-time musical accompaniment for an all-ages choir of families making music together. Participants are not required to have a background in music, just a desire to make it. bttr.im/f0e1n

Quadra Village Community Centre: Saturday, Sept. 28, 11 a.m.: Come down to Wark Street Commons to help restore and maintain the edible, native, and medicinal plants. Volunteers will work with community members to spread leaf mulch on the garden beds, weeding, pruning, and other general garden maintenance needed to help these plants thrive. Lifetime Networks is seeking a volunteer to build a friendship with a man with autism in his 40s. He is a coffee connoisseur and a foodie, and he is looking for a friend who shares his love of computer programming. The Arts Centre at Cedar Hill Rec (Saanich Recreation): Arts activity assistant — various children’s programs — ideal for those who love working with children. Arts activity assistants are patient with new learners and enjoy creative exploration. Growing Chefs is looking for volunteers to deliver their classroom gardening and cooking program in local elementary schools, teaching kids to grow, prepare and cook good, healthy food. Training is provided, volunteers work in teams, and volunteer commitment is minimal, just two hours weekly for October and November. Disaster Aid Canada: Soap for Hope. Come volunteer in a relaxed setting. Join in on the conversation and meet other great people interested in giving back to our community. The Mustard Seed Street Church: Kitchen assistance. Contribute/ gain kitchen skills in their beautiful new facility. Fairfield Gonzales Community Association: Basketball facilitator. Do you like to play basketball? The FGCA is looking for volunteers to help facilitate its new basketball drop-in on Thursday evenings, starting Oct. 3. Facilitators need to be comfortable with collecting money, managing adult participants, and supervising groups of four to 20 participants.
