The First Open Heart Society is seeking past patients who would be willing to visit with current patients undergoing surgery to offer support and encouragement. Training provided. S.A.L.T.S. Sail and Life Training Society: Shoreside bosun’s mate. Tasks, projects and errands related to the maintenance of the tall ships in port, (generally weekdays from November through February and weekends March through October). Majority of work involves paint and bright-work. Other work may include assisting the shop foreman with rigging, woodwork, plumbing, and electrical work. Contact: Sarah Gray 250-383-6811.

Bridges for Women Society: Soup maker and baker — Bridges Employment Program. Monday afternoons, 1-4 p.m. Required to be made are a large pot of soup to last for two days and a dozen boiled eggs to last a week. Also required is the creation of some baked treats.
