The MS Society: Is looking for volunteers to help with the route marshal position from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. on Sunday, May 26 at Cadboro/Gyro Park. Route marshals are located along the route and help with the safety of participants. Please contact Jenessa.Noviello@mssociety.ca or call 250-388-6496 if you would like to help out. Lifetime Networks is looking for a Network Friend volunteer to build a friendship with a young man with a developmental disability in the West Shore who has a fabulous sense of humour. The Victoria Stroke Recovery Association: Provides weekly programming and activities that are designed for stroke survivors and their caregivers. Specifically, we are looking for a treasurer and secretary who would be required to attend our weekly Friday meetings. The Food Rescue Distribution Centre, 808B Viewfield Rd., is looking for volunteer support for the industrial kitchen, reception, sorting, food hampers, breakdown and a cleaner. Broadmead Care: Happy Hour Volunteer — Veterans Memorial Lodge. Broadmead Care knows how busy people’s lives can be and strive to be flexible in accommodating your schedule and personal goals. Heart & Stroke Foundation Vancouver Island: General Volunteer — Big Bike Days, May 30-31. You will gain experience in events, customer service, and fundraising. Morning or afternoon shifts (approximately five and a half hours) are available for both dates. Big Bike events happen rain or shine. Contact: Rhiannon Van Gogg 250-410-8092.

Indigenous Perspectives Society: National Indigenous Peoples Day volunteers — National Indigenous Peoples Day June 21. Volunteer duties include: canoe lifters and support, field game support, Charlies Trail assistant, elder care, golf cart/transportation support, performer assistant, craft facilitator, traffic control, catering support, cleanup crew and general support. Greater Victoria Public Library: Website support: This role, as either principal or backup, will be to help maintain the Friends’ small website using primarily Google blogger. Some work is done using Microsoft Word and/or an HTML editor. The time requirement is small, one to two hours/month, but we are looking for a long-term commitment. volunteers@gvplfriends.ca

CRD Regional Parks: Restoration volunteer. Restoration Volunteers participate in the removal of non-native, invasive plant species and the restoration of natural habitats within CRD Regional Parks. A short training session, approximately 15 minutes is given at the start of each session. Volunteer sessions are generally three hours. For more information: Colleen Long 250-360-3329.

Early Music Society of the Islands: Board treasurer for a non-profit wholly-volunteer organization enriching the cultural life of Greater Victoria and the Islands. Accounting certification a bonus but not necessary. Being available for board meetings about times a year and some concerts is helpful; otherwise work is at volunteer’s discretion.
