Art studios around Victoria West open their doors this weekend for the Vic West Art Quest.

The self-guided open studio tour includes 15 studios and four art venues. It runs Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Brochures are available at the Victoria West Community Centre or online at www.vicwestartquest.com.

This year's quest will also include an open house at the B.C. School of Art Therapy and a special exhibition by The Imagists, a group of seven Victoria artists, at the Sculpture Studio.

"A common theme with our work is we usually incorporate many techniques and styles," said Imagist and sculptor David Hunwick. "So there's an experimentation, a play with form and colour and there's very much that sense of trying to push some boundaries."

The Imagists opening is Friday from 7 to 10 p.m. It also features guest artist Leonard Butt.

Other participants in the Vic West Art Quest include Virginia Abbott, Jane Baigent, Linda Bedard, Ava P. Christl, Lori GarciaMeredith, Naomi Grindlay, David Malysheff, June Higgins, Fern Long, Karen Muntean, Michael Ranftal, Maria Middleton, Eve Millar, Inge Ranzinger and Raven Wyntre-Clarkson.

For those who can't make it to each of the studios, or who want a sneak peak to plan their route, the Spiral Cafe and Hump & Company on Craigflower Road are hosting group shows for the month of May, including one piece each from participating artists.
