Jurgen Waber to return as Austria Fed Cup captain after year away, replaces Clemens Trimmel

VIENNA - Austrian tennis coach Jurgen Waber is returning as Fed Cup captain next season, taking over from Clemens Trimmel whose contract hasn't been extended by the national federation.

Waber led Austria's Fed Cup team from 2010-13, but was replaced last season by Trimmel, who also served as Davis Cup captain and the federation's sport director.

Waber, who previously coached Sybille Bammer, tells the Austria Press Agency, "I am a bit surprised but I am grateful the federation has come back to me."

The Fed Cup team, competing in Europe/Africa Zone I, will be left without top-100 ranked players following Yvonne Meusburger's retirement after next month's Australian Open.

The Austrian tennis federation is yet to announce a new Davis Cup captain.
