CARE Awards showcase leaders in West Coast home construction

VICTORIA – Leading projects in sustainable West Coast home design and construction were showcased at the 2019 Construction Achievements and Renovations of Excellence (CARE) Awards of Vancouver Island on Saturday, September 21 at the Fairmont Empress

VICTORIA – Leading projects in sustainable West Coast home design and construction were showcased at the 2019 Construction Achievements and Renovations of Excellence (CARE) Awards of Vancouver Island on Saturday, September 21 at the Fairmont Empress Hotel. More than 50 awards were presented at the 28th annual event attended by 300 builders, renovators, designers, trades, suppliers.

Project of the Year – Single Family was awarded to Falcon Heights Contracting, Ryan Hoyt Designs and Mari Kushino Design for Elements. Project of the Year-Multi-Family went to McLaren Properties for Seahaven. The popular People’s Choice Award was won by Shane Murray Contracting for Enchanting.

“Congratulations to all of the Gold CARE Award winners and finalists for their outstanding projects,” says Jenny Martin, Chair of the 2019 CARE Awards. “A special thank-you to our sponsors for their strong support always making the CARE Awards a fabulous evening of celebration."

The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to David Dare, Road's End Contracting for many years of leadership in award-winning, energy efficient construction. The Building Better Futures Community Award went to Mike Geric Construction for innovation, affordability and contribution to the community. Jason Good, Jason Good Custom Cabinets won the Bill Wansbrough Memorial Award for leadership in charitable giving. Green Builder of the Year was presented by Built Green Canada to Falcon Heights Contracting for energy efficiency.

The Student Design Award went to Alyson Wheeldon, which includes $500 from the Victoria Residential Builders Association.
