Garrett Mitchell's two-goal performance leads IceHogs past Moose 5-2

WINNIPEG — Garrett Mitchell scored twice, including into the empty net, as the Rockford IceHogs topped the Manitoba Moose 5-2 on Thursday in American Hockey League play.

Joseph Cramarossa, Jacob Nilsson and Tyler Sikura also scored for Rockford (24-25-3).

Kevin Lankinen stopped all 16 shots he faced in the first period before Collin Delia stopped 17-of-19 shots in relief.

JC Lipon and Michael Spacek replied as Manitoba (22-30-0), the AHL affiliate of the Winnipeg Jets, lost its third straight game

Mikhail Berdin turned aside 16-of-20 shots in net for the Moose.

The IceHogs scored on their only power play and Manitoba went 0 for 3 with the man advantage.
