The Victoria Symphony will continue its 2020-21 virtual season with a slate of online concerts every two weeks until the end of June.

The 12-concert season, announced Monday, gets underway Thursday, Jan. 7, with Debussy & Ravel: À la Française, a selection of 19th century French classics conducted by Giuseppe Pietraroia.

The season-long series featuring Victoria Symphony musicians performing in a socially-distanced setting also includes the highlights Shostakovich Chamber Symphony (Feb. 4), Mozart Horn Concertos (April 15), and Victoria Goes Broadway (May 27).

Guests include conductor Sean O’Loughlin, Terence Tam, Lorraine Min, and Jeanne Lamon, among others.

“We are determined to make this one of the most successful virtual seasons in Canada,” maestro Christian Kluxen said in a statement from his home in Denmark. “We are enjoying learning new things, reconnecting with our current audience, and engaging with new audiences from all over the world.”

The concerts will be presented free of charge on victoriasymphony.ca. Donations — in lieu of purchasing a ticket — are encouraged.
