A group of Victoria jazz musicians will appear Saturday at the first-ever JamKazam Music Festival, which will be livestreamed via the popular online app JamKazam. JamKazam produces real-time audio and video as if the participants were in the same room.

Karel Roessingh (piano), Joey Smith (bass) and vocalists Edie Daponte, Maureen Washington, Maria Manna and Susannah Adams will perform a 30-minute set from their respective homes at 5 p.m. during the festival, which includes roots, rock and rap acts.

The local musicians are the only Canadians invited to appear in the livestream, billed as the Victoria Canada Jazz Showcase. The sextet previously used the JamKazam application for a May 15 fundraiser hosted by Hermann’s Jazz Club, which raised $1,200 for the Rapid Relief Fund.
