Victoria is looking for its next artist in residence

The position gives professional artists an opportunity to work collaboratively with the community and city staff over a two-year term.

Vancouver Island residents looking to greatly expand their résumés have until July 4 to submit expressions of interest for the City of Victoria’s artists-in-residence program.

The position, funded by the City’s Art in Public Places reserve fund, gives professional artists in the fields of music, literary arts, visual media, and performance and an opportunity to work collaboratively with the community and city staff over a two-year term.

Previous appointees include artist Luke Ramsay (2016-2018) and musician Kathryn Calder (2019-2021).

A virtual public information session will be held June 15 at 5:30 p.m. through tinyurl.com/xs8tcnxj. The deadline for expressions of interest is July 4 at 4 p.m., while interviews with shortlisted artists will be conducted in August. The winner will be announced in September.
