Victoria roots-rockers Carmanah are promoting their newly released sophomore album, Iris, with three virtual festival sets streamed on Facebook this weekend.

The sextet will deliver three 40-minute performances over a three-hour period Sunday, while stationed at a studio in Victoria. Carmanah’s mini tour will showcase material from Iris on the Facebook sites of Guelph’s Hillside Festival (1 p.m.), the Winnipeg Folk Festival (2 p.m.), and the Edmonton Folk Music Festival (3 p.m.). Access to each stream will be linked through Carmanah’s official page on Facebook.

The band’s virtual tour is the best way for local audiences to hear the new material performed live as Carmanah currently has only one in-person performance on its concert calendar, a Nov. 5 appearance in Burnaby at the Shadbolt Centere for the Arts.

The lack of concerts has not hurt Carmanah’s forward momentum; Iris has made waves on multiple formats following its Oct. 2 arrival. The singles As I See You and Mountain Woman have both made inroads on Spotify, while the band’s cover of Nancy Sinatra’s Bang Bang, was feted with a video release this month.
