Courtenay’s Vancouver Island Music Festival has cancelled is upcoming edition, with producers looking ahead to the festival’s return in 2021.

The popular three-day event known as MusicFest, which attracts 10,000 attendees daily, was set for July 10-12 at the Comox Valley Exhibition Grounds. Headliners this year were to include Lucinda Williams, Corb Lund, Bahamas, Leo Kottke and others.

“This is a temporary measure,” the festival said in a statement. “We are hopeful that by this time next year we will all be able to say it’s game on for MusicFest and everything else and with some luck many of the same artists will be available as well. Hopefully, you will remain as excited and supportive as we are about the next version of Vancouver Island MusicFest.”

The festival’s website was under construction Monday, but details regarding admission and camping refunds will be available in the coming days, according to organizers.
