Singer-songwriter Jason Isbell to make Victoria debut in 2023

American singer-songwriter Jason Isbell will make his Victoria debut next year, with Canadian favourite Kathleen Edwards as the opening act.

The Alabama native and his band, The 400 Unit, are booked to play the Royal Theatre on March 6.

Isbell, 43, is regarded as one of the top singer-songwriters of his generation, having earned four Grammy Awards during his solo career.

A former member of the Drive-By Truckers, Nashville-based Isbell saw three consecutive albums of his top the Billboard country charts.

Those same recordings — More Than Free (2015), The Nashville Sound (2017) and Reunions (2020) — also topped the Billboard folk and rocks charts.

Tickets are expected to sell quickly when they go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through the Royal McPherson box office (250-386-6121) or rmts.bc.ca. Prices range from $114.50 to $250.
