Celebrated actor Ryan Gosling was offered a chance to join ‘90s boyband the Backstreet Boys, but turned the offer down.

Gosling said recently in an interview that Backstreet Boy A.J. McLean offered him a spot in the group when the two lived in the same Orlando apartment complex, back when the boyband was first forming. The Canadian actor declined, saying their chance of making it big “was never going to happen.”

He was dead wrong, of course, and he says he tried to reach out to McLean after the Backstreet Boys blew up, but never heard back.

In an interview with TMZ, McLean apologized to Gosling, claiming he never intended to blow Gosling off, and that the offer to join the group still stands.

"If we ever want a sixth Backstreet Boy member, I'm gonna call you. You can sing," McLean says.

"He can sing his a** off. He's not only a great actor and a handsome man."

We’ll see how that turns out.
