Duncan Regehr is some kind of Renaissance man, having dipped his toe in the worlds of theatre, art and writing.
The University of Victoria has honoured his contributions to the arts, not only with an honorary degree in 2008, but now with an exhibition.
Transformations: A Retrospective, presented at the Legacy Art Gallery from June 13 to Aug. 18, pairs Regehr's visual art and poetry under the broad theme of metamorphosis, a common subject of his work.
The exhibit promises to put his recent work - such as the series "Omniscience, Revenant and Doppelganger" - in the context of a larger career.
Regehr has had multimedia art exhibitions in Canada, the U.S. and Europe in the past 35 years. His paintings, sculpture and written works belong to collections such as the Smithsonian Institute, the Jilin Collection, the Kunsthallen, Focus on the Masters Archives for the Getty Museum and the Syllavethy Collection of Scotland.
He is also a classically trained actor who began performing Shakespeare at age 15, before moving into film, radio and television.
Regehr played title character Zorro in the Family Channel series from 1990 to 1993.
