The Glorious Sons concert set for the Royal Theatre next week has been cancelled due to restrictions stemming from provincial COVID-19 protocols, organizers have announced.

The event, which was set for Jan. 14, was put in doubt when capacity limits for gatherings were cut last month to 50 per cent, in order to reduce the spread of the Omicron variant. The Glorious Sons, who were nominated for Group of the Year at the 2021 Juno Awards, are among the most popular rock bands in Canada, so moving forward with reduced seating was not a viable option.

The band said it has no plans to reschedule. A second Royal Theatre show by the band set for Jan. 15 was cancelled in November, due to unforeseen circumstances. Other upcoming dates on the band’s B.C. itinerary have been moved to July.

Ticketholders who who purchased their seats by cash, cheque, or debit will be contacted by organizers on how to receive a refund. Those who used a credit card will be automatically refunded. For more information, visit rmts.bc.ca.
