The Canadian College of Performing Arts will pay tribute to David Foster during a gala on June 30 celebrating the Grammy Award-winning producer’s five decades in music.

Foster will be in attendance for Dedicated to David: A Legendary Evening, which includes a gourmet dinner, live auction and musical performances. Foster is not booked to perform, but organizers have secured use of his favourite grand piano for the event.

The St. Elmo’s Fire (Man in Motion) hitmaker and former Whitney Houston producer will receive the college’s inaugural Legend Award at the event, which will be held at the Roundhouse Car Shop at Bayview Place in Vic West. More than 400 people are expected to attend.

“The evening is about celebrating David and acknowledging all of his wonderful contributions,” said CCPA president Ronald Shuster.

“We are glad that he was available and able to be on hand to receive this award.”

Foster is booked to give the keynote address on June 29 at the B.C. Business Top 100 Luncheon in Vancouver.

Some of Foster’s greatest hits will be performed at Dedicated to David by CCPA alumni from across Canada, in addition to other local performers.

“The professionals that we have are going to be powerhouse performers,” Seltzer said.

Presenting sponsors Patricia and Ken Mariash will also be making a contribution to the college at the event.

“Investing in arts, culture and education is an important part of building a thriving community,” Patricia Mariash said in a statement.

Tickets are on sale for $300 through Eventbrite.ca or 250-595-9970.
