Fans of The Nutcracker can rest easy: Dance Victoria has announced that its upcoming slate of programming under the (Virtual) Home Season umbrella will include the annual Christmas favourite.

With the continued closure of the Royal Theatre, which has been home to Dance Victoria’s enduring Christmastime hit in the past, the production will now be streamed to audiences during four days in December.

Canada’s Ukrainian Shumka Dancers will be joined by dancers from Kyiv Ballet at the National Opera of Ukraine, Ukraine’s Virsky Ukrainian National Folk Dance Ensemble, Citie Ballet, Viter Ukrainian Folk Choir and Edmonton’s Shumka School of Dance for high-definition online performances Dec. 10-13, accessible to ticketholders through a secure website.

Patrons can access The Nutcracker through a season subscription ($80 for four shows) or for the single-ticket price of $25. Dance Victoria is also partnering with Victoria Women’s Transition House on The Nutcracker Kids program, which matches $65 donations received through DanceVictoria.com/nutkids to benefit children and families in need.
