Victoria’s Current Swell is returning to the Royal Theatre on April 1 for its first show at the Broughton Street theatre since 2019.

The band is currently working on its eighth album and first since Buffalo, which was released three years ago. Work on the recording has been ongoing since the band’s North American tour in May, which saw Current Swell play Boston, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, and Washington, DC.

The lineup for the Victoria show includes singer-guitarists Scott Stanton and Davers Lang, bassist Louie Sadava, drummer Marcus Manhas and the horn section of Phil Hamelin (trumpet) and Dave St. Jean (trombone). An opening act has not yet been announced.

Tickets ($28.75, including fees) go on sale Thursday at 10 a.m. through the Royal McPherson box office (250-380-5366) or rmts.bc.ca.
